Whenever restarted this greatly customizable screen saver - unnoticeably to the user - generates a completely new 3D maze and finds the solution (a right way to the exit) using a special algorithm. This is followed by display of 3D simulation of the passing through the maze.

By default, after each 3D simulation of passing through the maze, 2D drawing (a top view) of the maze with the solution is shown, i.e. a path via which the passing is performed.

2. Settings

3D Maze ScreenSaver can have infinite number of various appearances.

User is allowed to change completely the screen saver graphics.
User can enable or disable sound.
It is also possible to select folder with music (or with some other audio content, of course) from which 3D ScreenSaver is to load and play songs one after another.

2.1 Graphics Settings

Developer of 3D Maze ScreenSaver has carefully created graphics to make this screen saver one of the best available.
Developer has enabled settings of 3D maze outer walls, inner walls, floor, and ceiling.
In this version of the screen saver, developer has provided five options for each of the abovementioned interior elements (that allows 900 combinations predefined interiors). Furthermore, after installation you can find thirteen additional maps in the Additional Maps folder.

This screen saver is extraordinary due to the possibility of the user to import his own graphics solution for elements of the maze interior (simply, as *.bmp files) – which, from the aspect of graphics, makes it completely open.

3D Maze ScreenSaver goes even further!

Regardless of whether user’s or predefined graphics is set, 3D Maze ScreenSaver also offers colorization possibility, i.e. changes of general/ambiental color. The user can choose Random option and screen saver will select one of 16 predefined colors randomly every time when it restarts.

The user provided with unlimited possibility to set colorize color using Windows color palette (4.3x10exp9 of possible nuances). According to the user’s preference, color intensity can be in a wide range from strong to subtle (recommended) nuances.

2.2. Sound Settings

As modern one, 3D Maze ScreenSaver has possibility to play sound.
Due to installation file size economy, 3D Maze ScreenSaver comes just with one instrumental composition (a variation of famous song, “Night Life“) in total duration of 65 seconds.
In its good style, 3D Maze ScreenSaver provides the user with possibility to set custom folder with (his/her favorite) music. Three standard formats: *.wav, *.mid, *.mp3 are supported as the most often used ones.
3D Maze ScreenSaver plays one after another: all *.wav files, firstly - all *.mid, after that - and finally, all *.mp3 files.
Of course, the user can disable sound if wants.

2.3. Other Settings

By default, after displaying of 3D simulation of passing through the maze (that is before new maze generation) 3D Maze ScreenSaver shows 2D drawing of the maze along with solution path in 2D (top-view).
The user has possibility to enable or disable display of abovementioned 2D drawing.

3. System Requirements

A modern PC (Pentium II processor or higher) running Windows 2000, Me, Windows XP (or newer) is required. After installation the program uses about 10.3 MB disk space. The program requires at least 65000 colors (high color, 16-bit). It requires at least 800x600 screen resolution.
A 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 8 or higher and with at least 32 MB of video memory is required.
Also a DirectX 8 compatible sound card is required. Make sure all graphics and sound card drivers are up to date.
DirectX 8 or higher is required (not included). You can download the newest version of DirectX from the Microsoft website at: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ .


4. Installing and Uninstalling the Program

To install 3D Maze ScreenSaver simply run 3DMazeSetup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions. You can install the software anywhere you like but it is best to follow the default suggestion given. Once installation is completed, in the Start menu you will find a new program group from which you can read the documentation, register or uninstall the screensaver.
You can uninstall 3D Maze ScreenSaver with left-click on the Uninstall 3D Maze ScreenSaver shortcut that you can find in the Start menu.


5. Registration

3D Maze ScreenSaver is shareware.
Unregistered version is full functional but has 5 minutes run-time limitation.
